A Cool Morning - Barrie Cemetery | Barrie Cemetery - Texture FilterPlaying around this dreary day with Photoshop Elements 4.0. Used the "Craquelure" Texture Filter to get this effect and a play with framing hoping to convey the mood of that morning. | Lunar EclipseHere's the lunar eclipse nearing its end. Was a trial and error getting pictures as my initial ones at the start didn't turn out very good. Should have practiced before it started!! |
ORCHIDTwo hours at the orchid show just flew by this Sunday morning. So many flowers and a challenge at times trying to get a good background. This one was taken near the end of my time at the show and was found in the sales area where dealers have stock to sell. The high window allowed some strong back light to shine on these high stemmed ones above the crowded table. | Orchid #2This orchid reminds me of the Pink Lady's Slipper that exists in our neck of the woods. Though got to think that it might be a variation or hybrid of one? | Back Lit OrchidHere's another back lit orchid from the sales area. I've cloned out the stick that was supporting it but I'm not sure if I should have. Seems like a mighty slender stem to support this beautiful beauty... but then again there are no support sticks in the wild. |
After the Crucifixion | After the Crucifixion #2A closer view with some post processing treatment. | Amarylis BloomsTaking the existing light coming in from the kitchen window gives me some play with shadows. The two blooms only last a couple of days before they start fading away. You'll note the stamens are now all the same size compared to when it first opened up. |
Amarylis StamensOn the initial opening of the Amarylis bloom, the stamens appear to be all equal in size. By the time it is fully opened the inside three have shrunk down to half their original size. | Amarylis Stamens #2As shown here, the back three stamens have shrunken considerably from their original size. The front stamens will soon join their smaller counterparts shortly thereafter. | Before the Sun SetsThe sun was just about to disappear below the horizon. Spotted some of these grass heads along the walking trail and the light shining on them. I would like to try again hopefully there being no wind and getting a little closer. |
Dancing in the WindAnd old grass stem from last year still standing and with a bit of wind blowing catches my eye. Very happy with the green background!! |

Nice!
Re: Nice!
Josh - Sorry didn't see your earlier comment till now.
Actually it is a crop! I used a Nikkor 70-300mm VR lense but even at its full extension just did not have the reach. What you see is the space where I have a thirds grid which was in the centre of the whole frame. Still did turn out - just wished I had the exposure down pat at the start of the lunar eclipse...
