Canon for instance makes a 300mm f4.5 that sells for 1549.99 and the also make a 300mm f2.8 lens that sells for 4999.99. If you are just getting your feet wet and want a good overall zoom for a resonable price Canon also make a 75-300mm III USM lens for 279.99. Hope this helps. James
