file size recommendation for on-line print ordering

Re: file size recommendation for on-line print ordering

You can do it two ways.  Since it is an FTP type ordering system (your computer is connected directly to our server) you can leave the images the same way they come off your camera, then when we print them they will have a statdard crop, basically cropped evenly around all sides to fit into the size you order 4x6, 5x7 etc.  The second way as mentioned above, crop your image to 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 or 8x12 etc at 300 dpi and then use that file when you order your prints. (Make sure in the special instructions you tell us you have already cropped the image to 300 dpi).  The cropping works well for enlargments as you usually want a print cropped a certain way, but if I was just ordering 4x6 prints espically if I had a large amount I would just order them the size they came off the camera.  James - Stan C. I usually crop it at whatever size ie. 5x7 at 300dpi so it will come out the best quality from his printer.

file size recommendation for on-line print ordering

I just watched the video for ordering prints on-line from Stan C Reade but it doesn't mention how large a file size is needed for each print size to give the best quality print. I don't want to upload too large or too small a file! What is the "optimum" file size?
