OK Sean, no fightin' dirty now.

67 was a good year, actually I remember our visit to Expo 67 in Montreal and the Florida trip.

My first camera around my neck.  In Florida in 1967.  My mom was the photographer for the family ( she also painted ) but dad took this shot.  My photography interest and journalistic curiosity was certainly nutured by the many family trips and adventures we had.

The camera I believe is a Diana, it certainly was an all plastic model.

I can still see my father taking family pictures with this little camera.

I remember starting off taking pictures with a camera similar to this. What I do remember, is how hot those flash cubes were after firing. Ouch!

My first digital camera was bought in the mid nieties.  That big memory card had a huge 8 mb capacit, almost 6 foppies worth.  The camera I have now uses more space for one photo.  Interesting thing about the camera was that the LCD was an optional purchase.

The first I remember was my Polaroid Swinger that I got for Christmas in 1970. I think I've still got a couple of photos kicking around from it of my old boyfriend.

I likely had one before that but I can't remember what it was. The viewfinder was on top. A Brownie of some sort I think.

hehe... my camera is probably science fiction compared to most of the club member's cameras. it was a sony mavica given to me by my grandpa, it had 10x zoom, and took floppy discs which would hold about 15 images at one time. it had 0.9 mp so if you printed a 4x6 the picture looked like a puzzle. my next camera was a 3 mp centrio camcorder/camera, and after that a kodak 5mp camera. the next upgrade was to my current camera.

Here's one to test all our members memories ... share with us what was your first camera, and if you have a photo of it even better post it for us all to see.

My first camera was a Yashica D 120mm Camera, they were manufactured from 1958 to 1973.  My family business was a photography studio in Owen Sound called J.James and Daughters and I spent quite a bit of time there as a child.  My aunts used to give me outdated black and white film and I would go out along the Sydenham River (runs through the heart of Owen Sound) with them taking photos, then we would go back to the studio and develop the film in the dark room and print them.  I think I printed my first pictures when I was 5 or 6, and if I looked hard enough I could still find some of the images.  I still have my great grandfathers Century Camera that he had in his studio on display at Stan C. Reade Photo.

Below is an image of my first camera and an image shot by my great grandfather of downtown Owen Sound probably 75 to 80 years ago.  I look forward to reading your photo stories.  James
