Thanks Jamie. Sorry I wasn't clear about editing. I'm pretty familiar with tweaking curves etc, just not playing with contrast, amount of grain etc that is esthetically pleasing in a B&W. It sounds like it's playtime.

I like the effect, it again gives you that photographed with film look.

I added noise and then a motion blur to try and get a more realistic film grain.

Hi Patti

This technique lends itself to this image, and the digital noise gives the same effect.  If you want to change the contrast or change the brightness of the image in Light Room, click on the Develop Icon in the top right and corner of the program.  This will open a series of sliders on the right side of your screen and the adjustments are endless.  Give it a try and post a revision below if you like.

I had a grossly underexposed photo so I thought might work in B&W. I did this in LR not PS Elements. Does plain ol' digital noise provide the same effect or is it a different beast?

I have no clue how to edit the contrast etc. with this. C&C most welcome.
