Banded tundra swans follow-up
Posted by: Suzanne Southon,24 May 2008 [00:44 UTC],At the tundra swan shoot of March 29, I was able to photograph(very late in the day) two banded swans. When enlarging the photos, I was able to read the bands. After some research, I found out where to report these banded birds. Today, I received the information on the birds.
Tundra swan H057 was banded as a second year male on January 28,2002 at Campden, North Carolina.
Tundra swan H069 was banded as an adult male on February 12, 2001 at Lake Landing, North Carolina.
When reporting these birds, I had to give info on the band colour, letter colour and code, as well as the location of where the birds were seen.
Thought this was an interesting follow-up to a great afternoon with the swans.
Sue
