Speaking of winning, we want to make sure all of our members know about the photo contest we currently have on, it’s call the Peoples Choice Print Competition and is open to all our members.  Members are invited to submit images into three categories, Landscape, People, and Wildlife, (limit two entires per category) in 5x7 to 11x14 size and mounted please (just on a mount board or matte) so we can display them at the Elsie Perrin Estate during the Christmas Gala.  Members attending the gala will be asked to cast a vote for their favourite image in each category and the winner will be announced at the end of the evening.  You do not have to be in attendance to win, and there is no entry fee.  We will also have a best in show award, voted on by MyPhotoClub.com members at the Gala.

Which brings us to the Christmas get together for MyPhotoClub.com members at the Elsie Perrin Williams Estate on Saturday December 13th, from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Club members and a guest are invited to join us at the Estate for a fun Christmas get together, there will be food, refreshments, light entertainment, and media presentations showcasing members galleries from the website.  We will also have a cash bar, with proceeds from the bar going to Heritage London Foundation.  If you would like to attend please R.S.V.P. James at jcowie@stancreade.com, this will give us an idea of numbers for food and refreshments.  We would also ask members to bring a non-perishable item that we can donate to the food bank, on behalf of MyPhotoClub.com members.  See you there.

New articles on the website this month, included Episode 2 of Shop Talk with Sean and James, on this video they talked about the website and went over how to use the features it has to offer.  Along with this video we created three other step by step videos, demonstrating how to Creating and Uploading your Images to a Gallery,  Posting your Images to a Forum, and Sharing your Images via Email and Posting your Galleries to other Websites.  Gadget Guy was busy with a new video, this time he demonstrated a Portable Soft Box.  We also brought back up a feature video we did with MyPhotoClub.com member Rosemarie Culver called Exposure Tips for Winter Shooting.  This is a great video packed with tips and ideas for taking photos during the winter season.  The art of Bokeh Photography was another feature video we released with special guest MyPhotoClub.com member Sue Southon.  In this video she demonstrated the Bokeh Photography technique and how easy it is is to create the masks for your camera to create this effect.  If club members ever have an idea for a video or wish to share a photo technique, we would love to feature you in a video.  If you are interested please contact James at jcowie@stancreade.com.

We had two photo assignments this month, Anything Halloween and 10 minutes from Home.  It is great to see the participation from members for the assignments and some of the images have been very creative.  At the end of each assignment we create a video to music of the submissions.  If you would like to see the two videos we created during the month on November just click on the above assignment titles.  Our current assignment is “Food”.

There was a few threads created in the forums this month that were fun, they are Photo Pass it, Remember when, and My Favourite Lens.  Go ahead and post your response to these fun topics.  We always love to hear from members and their thoughts.

Doug was busy with weekly photo tips, this month he talked about Converging Lines, the went the next week to talk about Working with Lines in your Photography, followed by photo tips on Group Photography, then a great article on Encouraging Children and Teens to Get Interested in Photography, and then wrapped up the month by creating an List of Photo Contests that are fee to enter.  He has also included the links to each of the contest websites.  Thanks again Doug for your time each week to prepare interesting tips and tricks to share with the members.  And if you have not discovered this gem of photo information, check out the “Doug’s Tip of the Week” in the forums section.  He posts a new tip every Saturday.

We also have a few seats left on our second annual Christmas Lights Tour on Sunday December 7th. The details of the tour and registration form and brochure are available for download on the Events Page.
